(NOTE: WWW.ARAPXML.NET HOSTING WENT DARK MARCH 2003;
As Netaccount was acquired by new owners June 2002, that was perhaps inevitable. SINTEF and other developers/architects continue this work now, in private association. See Robin Cover's arapXML page.  Let me know if you need copies of any of these documents; they were LGPL'd by Netaccount in 1st Quarter 2001- Todd)

News!

Dec. 2002  The AR/AP model is being reshaped in various ways, in 2003.  Contact us for information.

Dec. 2002  Enjoy this interview with Richard Soley interview in ADT Mag., on the advantages of modeling.  http://www.adtmag.com/article.asp?id=7027

July 2002  The co-sponsor Netaccount, ceased business; assets acquired by Visma.  Development of the AR/AP model continues to progress with ongoing staff resources of SINTEF.

April 2, 2002 The AR/AP project produced a revised ARAP submission to the OMG, which has now been published as OMG finance/02-03-01 (Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable revised submission) available at: http://www.omg.org/techprocess/meetings/schedule/AR_AP_Facility_RFP.html  (or local copy here)

This will be presented and discussed at the OMG TC meeting in Orlando, June 25-29, 2002.

The submission will be updated with tool support for mappings from the PIM (Platform Independent Model) to multiple PSMs (Platform Specific Models), including XML Web services, J2EE/EJB and CORBA, and further harmonised with ongoing work in UN/CEFACT - ebXML.

March 5, 2002  GLIEs library v.095 released with updated python script, html document etc.

March 1, 2002  UN/CEFACT eBTWG releases Core Component Technical Specification for Public Review at http://www.unece.org/cefact/ebxml/ebXML_CCTS_Part1_V1-8.pdf  AR/AP project member, Netaccount, is listed as a contributor to the Core Component Technical Specification in this release.  The CCTS for the first time, supports RFC 2396 URIs in its Identifier datatype, a key improvement enabling the use of Core Components in the AR/AP submission and the GLIEs project.   (ArapXML has, as a requirement, harmonization with UN/CEFACT Core Components).

Feb. 22, 2002  The GLIEs project moves towards technical compliance with the latest Core Components Technical Specification, as described January 21st below.   In coming weeks the GLIEs library and the AR/AP submission to OMG will both be revised, to harmonize their objects' naming and definitions.  The GLIEs in UML in Poseidon ZARGO format is available on request.

Feb. 17, 2002  ArapXML Consortium members prepare for upcoming meetings and release cycle:

Arne-Jrgen Berre, SINTEF, will produce for the OMG Web Services workshop in San Jose, March 4-7, 2002, the MDA Platform Independent Model for the GL/ARAP, with corresponding platform specific models, including CORBA, XML Web services, J2EE/EJB and ebXML.

Morten Jacobsen, NetAccount, will present the GL/ARAP to the D14 at the EWG meeting
in Barcelona Mar 18-22, 2002.

January 21, 2002  The XML schema portion of this project (ArapXML) is undergoing a major  transformation.  ArapXML is no longer an XML schema project.  It is a project for definition of syntax-neutral Core Component vocabulary for application integration, more broadly than General Ledger or ARAP.  See the Requirements document.

January 21, 2002  SINTEF and Netaccount announce ongoing work on their AR/AP software submission to OMG for April 2002 turnover at OMG Yokohama, April 2002.

The AR/AP project is developing a complete ontological foundation and design for a standard general ledger.

The project includes a software specification in response to OMG's RFP (request for proposals) for an AR/AP (accounts receivable/payable) system.

The project also includes a library of accounting interface components compliant with the ebXML Core Component Technical Specification.

The project is syntax neutral and built on a UML foundation. See this Accounting Ontology Whitepaper
